Hi there, I’m Josh.
I’m a father, husband, and lifelong nature lover who’s happiest with my hands in the earth—whether that’s tending plants, exploring the woods, or shaping clay into something functional and meaningful. I’ve experimented with many art forms over the years, but pottery is the one that rooted itself in me. There’s something grounding about taking a simple ball of clay and transforming it into a piece you can hold, use, and enjoy every day.As a kid, I spent hours playing in the mud and building things outside, and not much has changed. Today, I’m still drawn to that same sense of curiosity and connection—only now it happens in my backyard studio at the edge of the forest. I love every stage of the process, from handbuilding and painting to the quiet focus of the wheel.I teach small, relaxed pottery sessions outdoors on my property, surrounded by trees, firelight, and warm string lights. If you’re looking to slow down, get creative, and enjoy a night in nature, I’d love to share this space with you.— Josh
Backyard Forest Pottery Sessions
A creative, nature‑immersive pottery experience set on a quiet property that backs onto the forest. These small‑group sessions take place outdoors in the backyard, surrounded by trees, warm string lights, and the glow of a crackling bonfire. Music plays softly, the pace is slow and relaxed, and the whole evening feels cozy, grounding, and a little bit magical. What You’ll Do
Each session focuses on handbuilding and/or paint‑your‑own pottery, with the option to try wheel throwing on a Shimpo Whisper, one of the quietest and smoothest wheels on the market. Lessons are intentionally small—2 to 4 people—so everyone gets guidance, space, and time to play. I have one wheel available, so guests will take turns trying wheel throwing while moving between handbuilding and paint‑your‑own pottery throughout the session. All materials, tools, and firings are included, along with up to three finished pieces per person.Pricing
- 2 people — $85 each
- 3 people — $70 each
- 4 people — $60 each
Larger groups available by request. Washroom available on site.During Your Visit
Guests are welcome to explore the property during their visit. A set of rustic steps leads directly into the forest, where you can take a short walk beneath the trees. In the evenings, the path is softly illuminated by the fire and warm string lights, creating a peaceful transition between the creative space and the woods. There’s also a small greenhouse tucked in the backyard, glowing with string lights. You’re invited to wander through, enjoy the greenery, and—if something catches your eye—purchase a small houseplant or herb to take home.Whether you’re celebrating something special, planning a cozy date night, or simply looking for a creative escape, these forest‑edge pottery sessions offer a warm, memorable experience rooted in nature, connection, and play.
